Jewellery Information

Vintage & Antique Jewellery

Vintage & antique jewellery may have signs of wear, this is due to the age and life before now. I strongly feel this adds even more to the charm & individuality found in a true vintage item. I choose each piece carefully based on it’s beauty & appeal, and include as much detail as possible in notes & pictures. I bring some pieces back to life, reshaping, setting and polishing. I clean and give every piece. light polish, careful to keep the vintage charm.

Hallmarking & Testing

All gold sold in UK must be hallmarked, there are certain weight exemptions. Items below 1.0g of gold, below 7.78g for silver and below 0.5g for platinum are exempt from being hallmarked. All pieces are tested and weights checked before selling.

Ring Sizing

Ever Ever highly recommends you pop into a local jeweller and have your ring size measured professionally prior to purchasing. It takes 5 minutes and will ensure your ring fits perfectly!

Gold Plated & Gold Fill Pieces

Plating is a process where a layer of gold is placed on to coat the surface of another metal. As the jewelry is not 100% solid gold, extra care should be taken to maximize its lifespan. Anything plated will eventually tarnish with time and wear.

When treated well, gold plating can last a long time. Please follow these golden rules for keeping your pieces plated & delay fading for longer.

  1. Remove your jewellery before you swim in chlorine or salt water.
  2. Remove your jewellery before participating in activities that will cause you to sweat a lot.
  3. Wait to put on your jewellery until after you have applied lotion, makeup or perfume.
  4. Remove jewellery if you will be bringing it into contact with something hard. (For example, take off your ring before lifting weights.)
  5. Store your plated jewellery where it won’t rub against other hard substances (a soft bag—one per piece of jewellery—is ideal).
  6. Substances like oil, nail polish, nail polish remover, chlorine, and perfume may react with metal/plated jewelry and cause it to tarnish. This is also true for sweat, so make sure you remove your gold plated jewellery when you exercise or doing anything requiring heavy work and when swimming

  7. If your jewellery needs more cleaning you may clean it with warm, soapy water. Soak it for a few minutes and you may clean it with a soft cloth. Stay away from jewelry cleaners and antibacterial soaps which may have certain components that will make your gold plated jewelry tarnish more quicklTo decrease the chances of fading out, here are easy ways on keeping the luster of your gold plated jewellery.

  8. Store like items together. Do not store gold plating and silver plating together. The different metals will cause each other to tarnish, fade and/or turn colors. Have different storage places for different colors of metals like gold and rose gold. Store in a dry area.
